A special afternoon was arranged for the children by the management of Ye Olde Pirate Shippe on Saturday afternoon in the shape of a treasure hunt in sand, a special bit above the tide being roped off for the purpose. Boxes (18) containing an order for money, were buried, and for these the children toiled lustily,. their flagging energies being spurred to further action whenever a fellow toiler was successful. The first—a find of five shillings—was found by Peter Deighton, and 8 boxes were e'oon discovered, the other Id following at lengthening intervals, the great Meat making it no mean achievement.
