WELLINGTON FIRE.
BOOTMAKER'S LOSSES. ACCTDENT TO HELPER. (By Tclofrraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON', this day. The bootmaker's establishment of Mr. J. Watts, Cambridge Terrace, was the scene of a fire at three o'clock on Saturday .morning. The sole occupant escaped through a window. Three rooms and the contents of the first floor were damaged by fire and water, and the shop and rooms below by smoke and water. The building is owned by Swinson's, Ltd. The fire was sighted by Mr. G. W. Orme, who, in his haste to give the alarm, stepped off the motor car in which he was travelling while it was still in motion and, falling backwards, sustained a scalp wound. An ambulance took him to the hospital for treatment. The insurances on the Cambride Terrace premises were as follows: Machinery, £435 (in the Australia Office); stock and furniture, £2.'>o (Now Zealand Insurance Office); personal effects, £100 (Alliance.
