NEW PASSENGER LINERS.

CABINS WITH BEDSTEADS

Luxurious suites* arc being fitted on the three new passenger liners now being built on the Clyde for the New Zealand Shipping Co. The first to be completed will be the Rangitiki, " which will sail from Southampton on her maiden voyage on February 15. The other two boats are expected to be ready in September and October.

All three are motor vessels. They are built to accommodate a hundred first class passengers, eighty second class, and over four hundred third class. All the first and second class cabins have bedsteads with Vi-spring mattresses, and have hot and cold fresh water laid on to lavatory basins. The third class accommodation is in two, four and six-berth cabins.

There is mechanical ventilation on the Louvre system throughout the ship. In the first class there are forty-two single cabins, and twenty private bathrooms communicating directly with single and double cabins. Each vessel has two special suites consisting of one large double bedroom, sitting room, and single room, each room having its own bathroom.

The decoration will be varied in each of the three vessels. In the first class there is a dining saloon to seat the full number of passengers, a lounge, a smoking room, a drawing room, and children's room and verandah cafe opening on to the dancing deck. Parquet flooring is provided in the lounge for dancing during the cool weather. In the second class there is a dining saloon to seat the full number of passengers, a lounge, a smoking room, a ladies' room and a nursery. A passenger lift serves all decks in the first class, and all classes are afforded 'excellent deck space. The decoration of the first ship is being undertaken by Messrs. Waring and Gillow to the designs of Mr. Robert Whyte. The general appearance of these ships is a two-funnelled two-masted vessel, with the passenger decks super-con-structed amidships.
