AUCKLAND GUN CLUB.
THE CHRISTMAS SHOOT. • Members of the Auckland Gun Club held their Christmas shoot at Pakuranga on Saturday. There was a large attendance and some excellent shooting was witnessed. The first match, for Mr. W. E. Grant's trophy, resulted in a tie among C. Seddon (28yds). F. E. McKenzie (21yds), and I. Lomas (21yds), with the possible. They divided the stakes and shot off for the trophy, Seddon winning on the sixth round.
The club championship, all off 2Syds, resulted in a popular win for J. Donnelly, who shot the possible of 10. taking first prize and the gold medal presented by the club. It was an excellent performance for a young shooter. F. E. Seccombe, C. Seddon, A. E. Macredie- and G. Peach divided second and third money with 9 each.
The third match, for the weather glass presented by Messrs. Drysdale and Company, resulted in a tie. among C. Seddon (28yds), F. E. McKenzie (21yds). and E. N. Barrett (21yds). They divided the stakes and the first-named two shot off for the trophy (Barrett not having been a member long enough to be eligible for trophies). Sedden won on the twelfth round, McKenzie not having the best of luck with his birds.
The final match, a first miss out, saw a great battle between C. Seddon (28yds) and A. E. Macredie (27yds), Seddon winning on the twelfth round.
A special trophy, presented by Mr. I. Lomas for the best first-barrel aggregate on the day (winners of trophies not eligible), was won by A. E. Macredie with 20 out of a possible 30, F. E. Seccombe being second with 16 out of 21.
The winner of the trophies. C. Seddon, shot 31 out of 40 with the right barrel. The next shoot will be held on January 16 for Mr. G. McMillan's trophy, and the clay bird championship will be shot on Wednesday, January 23.
