ACTED LIKE BEASTS.

Judge's Scathing Remarks In Fining Rioters. WATERSIDE TROUBLES. (Received 10.30 aim.) SYDNEY, this day. Fines ranging from £10 to £20 were imposed on a dozen waterside workers concerned in the strike riot at the Newcastle wharves on September 16. The judge said that if the unionists would not work others must be found to do it. It was a pity that there had not been someone in authority in the union to prevent the trouble. The men were fools and they acted like wild beasts.
