TRANSPORT PROBLEM.

MR. MASON AT BIRKENHEAD. "No doubt the Government candidate has carried out a great number of works in the City of Auckland," said Mr. H. G. R. Mason, Labour candidate for Suburbs, at Birkenhead, last night, "but why doesn't he stand for a city seat? When he was in control of Auckland transport it was a matter of waiting half an hour at rush time to get on a tram. And yet he expresses great anxiety as to suburban transport."

Mr. Mason was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence.

Mr. Mason also spoke at Astlev's Tannery, Avondale, and Verran's Corner, Birkdale.
