WHITE BEATS ROBERTS.
in the first semi-final of the New Zealand amateur billiards championship last evenIng, M. D. White defeated B. V. Roberts, last year's winner ot the title. White started well, scoring st«*dily,and at one stage led 247—115. Roberts rallied, and got to 899 when White's score was 488. White then got going again, and eventually ran out a winner by 77 points. Breaks: White —50, 47, 43, 36, 32, 25, 24, and 23, average 8.3; 'Roberts—B9, 68, 25, and .0, average 7.3 .. W. E. Hackett will play A. Scott In the second semi-final this evening.
