SCARLET FEVER.
EPIDEMIC IN CHRISTCHURCH.
INFANT SCHOOLS CLOSED.
MEDICAL OFFICER WARNS. PARENTS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The scarlet fever epidemic in North Canterbury has exceeded the normal time of epidemics of this nature, and the Medical Officer of Health has found it necessary to issue the following notice: —• "Seventy-five per cent of the cases reported are children under fourteen. Roughly, twice as many cases have occurred in the age-period five to ten as in the age-period ten to fifteen. Tlie majority of all cases have occurred in the metropolitan area, and it is proposed to exclude from schools in this area all children in the infant classtr' and Standard 1. All -kindergartens are also to be closed.
