STEAMER'S BUNKER FLOODED.

NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday

A heated bulkhead which was noticed on the steamer Port Darwin on the voyage from Timaru to New Plymouth resulted in the discovery of overheated coal in the forward cross bunker at New Plymouth to-day. A jjang has been engaged in flooding the bunker and getI ting down to the seat of the trouble.

The temperature has been gradually reduced, and late to-night the position] was practically normal. There was no actual fire.
