Word has been received by the Xew Zealand Church Missionary Society from Bishop Holden, of Kwangsi, Hunan, that Miss Blanche Tobin, the New Zealand missionary who was captured by bandits about six weeks ago and held" for ransom, has been released unharmed.

Miss Tobin, formerly of Auckland, was taken prisoner about September 24 by Chinese bandits between Canton and Kwei-lin. The Zenana Missionary Society announced on September 26 that the Rev. C. I. Branchett had left Canton for Kwei-lin to negotiate for her release.
