OTAHUHU ROBBERY.
PAY ENVELOPES STOLEN. CASH TOTALLING £30 MISSING. —— I TRACES OF BLOOD LEFT. 1 Early this morning a robbery was carried out at the Challenge Phosphate Company's premises, in Otahuliu. It was pay day yesterday at the works, and a number of envelopes containing wages, totalling about £30 were left in a desk in the office. All the money was stolen. Entrance was effected by breaking a glass slide in the office. The manager did not leave the office until midnight, while the night watchman was on duty until 1.30 this morning, so the robbery must have been carried out after this hour by a person who evidently was familiar with the pjace. In smashing the window, the intruder must have cut himself, for he left many bloodstains in the office. A cashbox containing a sum of money was in another desk, but this was not stolen, the thief being unable to reach it.
