SIGN OF THE TIMES.
SIGNIFICANCE OF RESULTS. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, November 2. Mr. Ramsay Mac Donald describes tlie municipal elections as magnificently encouraging. Mr. Arthur Henderson says that in view of the approach of the general election Labour's wonderful victories are full of significance. Mr. Philip Snovvden says the results followed the trend of Parliamentary byelections and .show that Labour is making remarkable headway iu the industrial centres. In Conservative headquarters the opinion is that no real political significance attaches to the elections, whicji were fought on local issues. The general election would be concerned with other matters with the new register, including the additional 5,000,000 women. Sir William Bull, M.P., said: It is a jolly good job we have lost the seats. It will show the apathy of Conservatives and frighten the people into increased anti-Labour activity.
