HENDERSON NOTES.
A bazaar and sale of work, arranged by the Ladies' Guild of St. Michael's Anglican Church, Henderson, was held in the Town Hall yesterday afteJtaoon and evening. The opening ceremony wae performed by Miss Averill, daughter of Archbishop Averill, who, in a ehort speech, congratulated the ladies unon the excellent work they had accomplished. At the conclueion of her remarks she was presented with a handsome bouquet of roeee and sweet peas. The hall was tastefully decorated with branches of bamboos and copper beech, relieved with masses of crimson azaleas, the work of Mrs. Morgan. The sweets stall, presided over by Mesdames Shreeves and Wayne, was the centre of attraction for the younger folk, and the flower stall presented a fine array of blooms, consisting mostly of roses, Iceland poppies, watsonias, antirrhinume, gallardias and other blossoms. Stalls were also provided for cakes, fruit, preserves and garden produce, and an exhibition of fancv needlework, provided by the Girls' Club, under the leadership of Mrs. J. Walsh, called for special mention. Guessing and nail driving competitions were indulged in, and musical and elocutionary iteme were contributed by the Miesee S. Stacpoole, F. Moore and E. Wayne. The proceeds, which are expected to amount to a substantial sum, are to (be used for reducing the debt upon the vicarage.
