LYING ON COUNTRY ROAD.
YOUTH RUN OVER BY CYCLE.
DEATH FROM FRACTURED SKULL.

PALMERSTON N., Thursday. A motor cyclist who was proceeding along the Foxton line at an early hour this morning discovered a youth lying across the road, too late to avoid run" ning over him. He was thrown from his machine, but was not hurt.
He went back and found the youth, James S. Chappell, aged 20, seriously injured, having evidently been knocked down by a passing car or a cycle just previously.
Medical aid was summoned, but Chappell died from a fracture of the skull. He had evidenly had no warning, as his hands were still in his pockets. It is understood that his mother resides at Whangarei.
