REBATE ON PETROL.
A FALSE DECLARATION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ASHBURTOX, this day. A farmer at Pendarves was fined £1 on a charge of having made a false declaration for the purpose of obtaining a refund of petrol tax. He pleaded guilty. The police stated that the declaration was made for 92G gallons, 25(> gallons pf which had been used in a prior period. Counsel explained that declarations had to be made in bi-monthly periods within seven days. Defendant was not aware he was doing wrong.
