ARAPUNI CHARGES.
MR. J. D. HOLMES' ATTACK.
DISCLAIMED BY CO-DIRECTORS.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TE AROHA, Wednesday.
The directors of the Otorohanga Gravel Company dissociate themselves from the attack made by Mr. J. D. Holmes, through Mr. R. W. Holmes, late chief engineer of the Public Works Department, concerning the safety of the dam at the Arapuni hydro-electric works.
The Prime Minister received the following telegram to-day:—"Referring to the letter from Mr. J. D. Holmes to the Hon. J. A. Young, I beg, on behalf of the directors of the Otorohanga Gravel Company, Limited, to deny all previous knowledge of or responsibility for his action. We dissociate ourselves entirely from any attempt to influence the Government by means of threats and strongly disapprove. Mr. Holmes acted on his own responsibility entirely, without the knowledge of the directors. — Campbell Thomson, chairman of directors, Otorohanga Gravel Company, Limited."
