The Wingatui sailed for Wellington, Lyttel ton, Timaru and Dunedin on Saturday afternoon. The Kaimunawa sailed on her return trip to Westport 011 Saturday afternoon to load again for Auckland. The Katoa arrived fryin South Island ports, Wellington and Napier 011 Saturday night. She is at Prince's wharf. The Balls Head sailed for Greymouth on Saturday afternoon to load another coal cargo for Auckland. The Waimea arrived last evening and berthed at King's wharf. She is to sail on her return trip to Gisborne and Napier at four o'clock to-morrow afternoon. The Waipiata arrived this morning from Southern ports and berthed at the Prince's wharf. She is to sail on Thursday for Wellington, I.yttelton, Dunedin, Bluff, Oamaru and Timaru. The Tiroa arrived on Saturday night from Gisborne and berthed at the King's wharf. RONA WITH SUGAR. Bringing a cargo of raw sugar for discharge at Chelsea, the Colonial Sugar Refining Co.'s steamer Rona left Suva this morning. She is due here on Sunday next. THE CANADIAN BRITISHER. Cabled advice from Quebec states that the Canadian National steamer Canadian Britisher arrived there on Friday from Auckland, via New York and Boston. She left here on September 3. CANADIAN EXPLORER. In continuation of her voyage from Montreal. the Cuudiau National steamer Canadian Explorer is to sail to-morrow afternoon for Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane. SALTERSGATE TO-NIGHT. To the agency of Henderson and Macfarlane, Ltd.. the steamer Saltersgate is due at Auckland to-niglit from Nauru. The whole of her phosphate cargo will be unloaded at the King's wharf. I BENHOLM COMING. The New Zealand Shipping Company has received cable advice that the steamer Benholm. under charter to the A. and A. Line, cleared New York for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunfcdin on October 12. She is due at Auckland on November IS. DEVON TO LOAD. To continue Homeward loading, the Federal steamer Devon is to leave Wellington on Wednesday for Napier and Auckland. She is due here next Sunday, and is announced to sail early next week for New York. Halifax, London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool. KAZEMBE TO-MORROW. From New York via Suva, the A. and A. Line's chartered steamer Kazembe is due at Auckland at 6 a.m. to-morrow, and will discharge the local portion of her cargo at the Central wharf to the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Co. From here she is to go to Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. NIAGARA FROM SYDNEY. According to her wireless report, the Union Co.'s R.M.s. Niagara will arrive at Auckland at S o'clock to-night, with passengers. mails and cargo from Sydney. A berth has been allotted to her at the Queen's wharf and is announced to sail for Suva. Honolulu and Vancouver at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. THE MAUI POMARE. Spedding. Ltd.. advise that the Government motorship Maui Pomare is due at Lyttelton with fruit from Apia and Nine on November 5. The Dunedin portion of her cargo will be railed from Lyttelton, and the vessel will come to Auckland, via Wellington. to complete discharge. She is due here on November 10. and sails two days Inter for Norfolk Island. MAHENO TO-MORROW With passengers, mails and cargo from Sydney, the Union Co.'s steamer Maheno is due at. Auckland to-morrow morning, berthing at the Queen's wharf. She is to sail again for Sydney next Friday. Also for Sydney, the Marama is due at Wellington to-morrow and sails again on Friday. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. G. W. Kent has joined the Kurow as chief officer, after completion of his holidays, Mr. J. W. Knox reverting to the position of second officer. Mr. T. W. Germein is joining the Ngatoro its third officer, relieving Sir. H. Ahernethy, who is transferring to the Walwarra In a similar capacity, relieving Mr. G. M. Coote for his examination. Mr. F. S. Bowman is being appointed third officer of the Kakariki, vice Mr. L. A. English, who will await orders at Melbourne. THE NEW AORANGI. The new Aorangi. for which the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand is to place an order at an early date, will be somewhat larger than her predecessor. She will he 655 ft in overall length. 83ft 9in In breadth, and of 29,000 tons displacement, fully loaded. Alternative tenders have been nsked for (1) Doxford. (2) Sulzcr, (3) Burmeister and Wain internal combustion engines, and (4), geared turbines. The Aorangi, which was built at Fairfield in 1924, has quadruple-screw Fairlicld-Sul- . zer engines. KARAMEA IN PORT. Arriving at Auckland on Saturday evening. the Shaw. Savill and Albion "motorship Karamea berthed at the Prince's wharf to land passengers, mails and cargo from London. Captain A. Mcintosh is in command. The Karamea is a sister ship to the Taranaki. Zealandic and Coptic, which have already visited Auckland. She was launched last May and sailed from London on September 14. Fine weather wns experienced, and the engines were not fully opened out, an average speed of 13.7 knots being maintained. On trials the vessel did 15.6 knots. About 5000 tons of general cargo Is being unloaded at Auckland to the agency of A. S. Paterson and Co.. and the vessel will go to Wellington to complete discharge.
