OLD MAN'S DEATH.

AT AVCKLASD HFDUUBT. VERDICT OF SUICIDE. Shortly after one o'clock yesterday afternoon Charles Kendrick, aged 83, an inmate of the Auckland Infirmary, was found dead. There was a large wound in his throat and a blood-stained razor at the side of his bed. The inquest was held this morning by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. The medical superintendent of the infirmary, Dr. A. C. MeKelvie, said that Kendrick was a single man who had formerly followed the occupation of a labourer. He had been an inmate of the infirmary since April 17, 1920. Since Tuesday last he had been confined to his bed with heart trouble. He had never spoken of taking his own life, but yesterday morning his breathing was bad and he seemed distressed.

After a nurse had given evidence, the coroner returned a verdict that deceased committed suicide by cutting his throat with a razor.
