Merger.

LONDON, October 19.

The Government is introducing a bill Jn November authorising a cable and wireless merger comprdiending the Eastern Cable Co. and its subsidiaries of the Pacific and West Indian Cables, and the Australian Wireless, the British Beam and the Marconi Wireless and' the Marconi Manufacturing.

It is understood that farther legislation will be necessary by Australia, then New Zealand and Canada, concerning their respective interests in the Pacific Cable and the Australian Wireless.

It is not anticipated that the merger will be fully functioning before the end of 1929.

Lord Inverforth, on behalf of Marconi] Company, and Mr. J. C. Pender, on frihajf of the Eastern Company, with the co-operation of the Pacific and West Iftdies, bought the County Council Embankment site of 310,000 feet upon which to erect the merger offices, which are costing £600,000.
