WAIHI, this day.
A crowd of record dimensions assembled in Waihi to witness "the arrival of the Waybacks," an event arranged as part of the town's carnival and shopping week.
The welcome of the party by an unofficial mayor evoked great enthusiasm and merriment. The town was illuminated with coloured electric lights, strung across the street.
A "pets parade" was held this morning. .
The.carnival will close on. Monday with an athletic and cycling gathering.
