INCOME TAX EVASION.
FIXE OF £10 IMPOSED.
Failure to supply a return of income for a number of years past caused W. G Dudley to be fined £10 at the Magistrates Court this morning. c • X. Hubble said the Department was put to much trouble and expense in obtaining returns when attempts were made to evade the income tax. Defendant had paid in default for four years from 1922 to 1920, and had supplied no returns in the past six years. He had some excuse as his hospital bills were heavy, but his negligence had put the Department to the expense of sending an inspector to Whangarei. °
