NOT MOUNT HOBSON.

SITE FOR MOTOR CAMP.

FINAL. WORD NOT SPOKEN.

CITY COUNCIL'S DECISION

The Auckland City Council decided last evening not to take any further action in connection with the suggested establishment of a motor camp on a portion of the Mount Hobson Reserve.

A letter was received from the Minister of Lands, declining to accede to the council's request to amend the Public Reserves and Domains Act to allow the council to erect buildings on the proposed site.

A petition was received from A. E. Smith and 106 others protesting against the proposed camp at Mount Hobson.

Mr. A. J. Stallworthy said that surely a city like Auckland could find a place for a motor camp. It would be an asset. This should not be the final word.

The Mayor: They will not allow us to use the property that we have.

Mr. J. A. C. AUum said that the recommendation referred to Mount Hobson only.

Mr. E. J. Phelan said that the Parks Committee realised that something should be done. This was not the final word. There was a possibility of getting a site at Avondale.

Mr. L. A. Eady said that the general impression was that a motor camp should be close to the city, but that was not so.
