WELCOME TO MR. HARRIS.

A cheery welcome from his friends at Takapuna awaited Mr. A. Harris, Reform candidate for Waitemata last evening. Mr. Harris will open his campaign at Bayswater next Tuesday, and in the meantime he is renewinz acquaintance with * his supporters at North Shore and in other parts of the electorate. Mr. J. W. Williamson presided at a social gathering in the Gaiety Theatre last night, when, despite the inclement weather, there was a large attendance. The Hon. E. W. Alison and Mr. T. Hanna supported Mr. Harris on the platform. Returning thank* for the welcome, Mr. Harris said he was standing as an independent Reform candidate. The Government would always have his support in sound and well-considered legislation, but he intended to preserve his independent statue.
