EX REP. PLAYER PASSES.

MB. PATRICK NICHOL. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.), j DUNEDIN, this day. [ A very old-time .Otago footballer, Mr. Patrick Nichol, .died, at Wellington on Monday,'-at the age of 7V. Mr.-Nichol was one of the original members of the Union Football Club in Dunedin v and was a member of the first Otago team to tour New Zealand in 1877. That team was mainly composed of members of the Dunedin Club, but It also included several members of tbe Union Club, of which Mr. Nichol was one of the representative plaved matches against Auckland, Wellington, Nelson, Christcburch, Timaru, and Temuka, and won all except" that ngainst Auckland, which was drawn. Mr. Nichol represented Otago twice in 1882, twice in 1883, and in 188* hi played against tbe first New South Wales team to come to New Zealand, in 1882. - •

. Mil. A., Holden, the University. Otago, and New Zealand' half-back, has been appointed to the staff of the Edendnle School, Southland. He will probably play Bugby in Invercargill next season.
