MOUNT EDEN BATHS.
PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS. LOAN PROPOSAL OF £3500. FILTRATION, HEATING AND OHLORINATION. "It is a very necessary work," said the Mayor (Mr. E. H. Potter) at a meeting of the Mount Eden Borough Council last evening when the Baths Committee presented a report recommending that a loan proposal for £3500 should be submitted to the ratepayers to cover the cost of filtration, chlorination and heating plant at the Mount Eden baths; also for the extension of the roofing and other work. Mr. G. L. Taylor: It means that we must either get the loan or close the baths. Mr. J. Smith pointed out that under the scheme there would be a saving on the cost of the water. The Mayor said that it was a point that should be brought under the notice of the ratepayers. The saving would pay interest and sinking fund. The report was adoptea, the Mayor remarking that the loan proposal would be placed before the ratepayers at an early date. A deputation from the Auckland Normal School' Parents' Association waited on the council and asked the pupils attending the school should be allowed to use the baths on occasions to be arranged. The request was referred to the Baths Committee for a report.
