LOCAL BODIES.
MOUNT EDEN. The Mount Eden Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor (Mr. E. H. Potter) presiding. New Buildings.—The building inspector reported that during August building permits of a value of £13,633 were issued, inclusive of 13 houses, valued at £10,338. Road Improvements.—The Works Committee recommended that Oakland* Road be laid in bitumen, that tenders be called for surface water drainage on Normanby Road, and that tenders be called for laying Boston Road with an 18ft centre. The report was adopted. New Tennis Courts.—The borough foreman reported that excavation for new tennis courts at Nicholson Park had been completed. Street Collections.—ln reply to a communication from tho Devonport Borough Council it was decided to state that all applications for street collections at Mount Eden were considered on their merits.
