BILLY SEA'S WIN.

The victory of Billy Sea in the Burwoo4 Handicap, the chief event at New Brighton on Saturday, took the shape of a surprise, the Australian-bred son of William C. being one of the least backed of the runners. Strangely enough hia previous win was in the same race last season, -but it was his only victory out of 21 starts, while the previous season he faced the starter 14 times without winning. On Saturday he was on a 4.33 mark and was rather fortunate in being able to win in 4.35, but he was no doubt assisted by the ■fact that there was a mix-up in the races and several horses either fell or were sufficiently interfered with to settle their chances. Billy Sea has always been recognised as a great stayer, but for a long time he was unreliable at the post and on many occasions threw away his chances by not going away right. At the Metropolitan meeting at Addington last month he went. 4.31 3-5 into third place, and although he was handicapped on 4.33 on Saturday he did not appeal to those looking for the winner.
