GAME AGAINST WARATAHS. TO-MORROW'S ATTRACTION. GREAT MATCH ANTICIPATED. If anticipations come true the between Auckland and the New South Wales touring team at Eden Park tomorrow afternoon will be the best game of the Auckland Rugby Union's season. The Waratahs have expressed themselves as particularly anxious to make a good showing in this match and as they are a team that play an attractive style of football the game should be fast and open. The Auckland team, which delighted the critics by their play on the Southern tour, will be at full strength, and will be all out to beat the visitors. The tea me are as follow: — New Sottth Wales. Having every reason to expect a big crowd and knowing that many will put in an appearance early, the management committee has arranged two matches as curtain-raisers, each of which should provide fast and interesting Rugby. The first will be at 12.30, when teams from the Hikurangi and Mount Roskill schools will line out. At 1.45 Eden and Pons on by will meet in what will practically take shape as the final of the third grade open competition.

On No.-2 ground there will be two matches. A team from the ranks ot the referees will oppose 'Varsity A, and it will be interesting to note how the whistle-blowers themselves observe the rules. The second game will be between Manukau and Suburbs, who are level in section B of the intermediate third grade. Tries were scored by Britland (8), Wilkinson (2), Kohl (2). Yates (2), and Wllkens (1). three being converted by Waterman and one by Kerr. Britland alos drop-kicked a goal. ROLLER MILLS SHIELD. GAMES AT WAIHI. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. The primary school®' Rugby competition for the Roller Mills Shield was continued here yesterday afternoon. The games attracted a fairly large attendance, and the football played throughout was of a high standard. Results:— 1 South Auckland 20, beat King Country 0. Auckland C 14, beat Auckland B 3. Yesterday morning the boys were shown over the surface working of the Waihi mine, and last evening they were entertained at tea in the Hall, tlie tea being organised by the Mayoress. A dance followed. CANTERBURY TOURISTS. TIMARU, Thursday. I The Canterbury touring Rugby team defeated South Canterbury at Tiniaru to-day, before 2000 spectators, by 21 points to 16. In the first half the game was much below interprovincial standard, but in the second spell both teams showed improved form and gave an exhibition both fast and exciting at times. The home team had the advantage of a strong wind in the first half and led at the interval by 8 points to 5. South Canterbury played a great game in the second spell, although facing the wind. The forwards outclassed the visitors in all departments. The home side scored eight more points before the visitors increased their score. On the run of play South Canterbury was unlucky to lose. By defeating Marist by 18 points to 8 at Waimate this afternoon, the Mnheno Rugby Club team established a record l>y annexing all three trophies. Citizens' Shield, Mollison Cup and Clark Shield, in one season. SOUTHERN HIGH SCHOOLS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Thursday. Although the standard of football shown in the high schools' tournament, which was concluded to-dny, was not up to that of the first day, the large crowd of spectators saw plenty of spectacular play. Christchurch and Timaru met in the final, the former winning by 24 points to 16, thus gaining the championship for the fourth time. In the early match Otago and Southland met, the home team winning by 13 points to nil. Otago therefore is placpd next to Christchurch, with one win. and Timaru and Southland are third with one draw each. Timnru has won the tournament five times, Otago three times and Southland once.
