"C.0.D." SYSTEM.
WITHDRAWAL URGED. CABINET WILL CONSIDER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A deputation representing the traders of the Dominion waited on Mr. Coates to-day, and asked that the "cash-on-delivery" system be withdrawn. Mr. H. M. Campbell, M.P., supporting the speakers, said the system was originally adopted in the interests of Empire trade and unity, but it was found that it was acting contrary to the interests of traders in this country. Mr. Coates, replying, said the only real point at issue was whether the (iovernment should act as agent for the firms which were operating the c.o.d. system. The figures he had been able to obtain went to show that the system was coming more generally into use. Ho would be glad to bring the matter before Cabinet.
The Prime Minister also said he would bring the cash order system, as operating in Australia, before the Department of Industries and Commerce.
