nXPUTY-OFFIOIAI. ASSIGNEE. QUICKSILVER DEPOSITS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. Mr. E. P. Ramsay has resigned from his position as Official Assignee at Whangarei, and Mr. V. R. Crowhurst, of the Official Assignee's office at Auckland will' act as deputy Official Assignee in the new Courthouse buildings at Whangarei until permanent arrangements have been made. Energetic steps are being taken to develop quicksilver deposits at the Ngswha Springs property, recently purchased by the Imperial Chemical Association. Tenders for the construction of the necessary machinery have been let, the amount running into a large stim. A Contract has also been let for the making of a road to the property in order that machinery may be transported when it arrives. It is expected that from 50 to 60 men will be engaged.
