NEW CONGRESS HALL.
EMPLOYEES CONGRATULATED. At the People's Palace last evening Commissioner James Hay met a representative gathering of contractors, tradesmen and others employed in the erection of the Salvation Army's Congress Hall in Grey Avenue. The occasion served to mark the completion of the building, which is to be opened by his Excellency the Governor-General on Saturday next. Commissioner Hay expressed his keen appreciation of the excellent standard °f interest, workmanship and progress which had characterised the undertaking, and which had made possible the completion of so essential a work in the record time of a little over seven months. Several speakers responded. Instrumental and elocutionary items were rendered. In addition to Commissioner Hay, the architect from Melbourne, Staff-Captain Perciyal Dale, Mr. L. Pincinni, the building foreman, and Brigadier A. Scotney, from Wellington, were also present.
