N.Z. BOWLERS. Started For Tour Of America. THE ITINERARY. (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) LONDON, August 12. The New Zealand bowlers have departed by the Cedric for New York. All the members of the team are well. They will play matches at Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Hamilton, London, Ontario, Chicago and Winnipeg. Some of the players will leave for New Zealand on September 14 from Vancouver and 14 of them will go to California to play matches at San Francisco, Los Angeles and Pasadena. TENNIS IN GERMANY. In the German national tennis tournament finals Cummings and Moon beat Moldenhauer and Prenn, B—6, 6—o, 6—2 in the men's doubles. For the ladies" singles Miss Akhurst defeated Fraulein Aussem, 2 —6, 6 —o, 6—4. In tne women's doubles Misses Akhurst and Boyd beat Mrs. Watson and Miss Coldsack (England), 7—5, 7 —5. In the mixed doubles Fraulein Aussem and Boyd beat Miss Akhurst and Moon. 7—5, 6—4. TENNIS IN U.S.A. (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) NEW YORK, August 12. In the lawn tennis tournament at the Meadows Club, Southampton, Bell won the singles bv defeating Mangin, 6—o, 6—3, 7—5. In the final of the doubles Lott and Doeg defeated Hawkes and Herndcn, 19—17, G—4, 6—4. In spite of Hawkes' exhibition of some of the finest doubles play seen here for many years Lott and Doeg overcame the Australian and American combination, chiefly through Herndon's inability to give his partner adequate support. Hawkes was at his best. His sharply angled volleys and half-volleys and icbs were roundly applauded. Herndon and Hawkes led at 6—5 and 40—30 in the first set, but could not win the needed point. When Hawkes" service was broken through in the filth game of the second set all doubt as to the outcome of the match was ended. TILDEN'S STATUS. NEW YORK, August 12. It is announced that W. T. Tilden was nominated as one of the five is Cup players who will meet six French Davis Cup players in a series of international lawn tennis matches at Philadelphia on September 0, 7 and 8, but his participation will depend on the outcome of the charges of professionalism made against him.
