NONAGENARIAN'S BIRTHDAY.
The Pavilion Hall, Kangiriri, was the scene of an interesting event on Thursday evening, when settlers numbering 250 congregated together, to celebrate the ninetieth birthday of Mrs. Frederick Walker. The school children of the district presented her with a beautiful bouquet, the settlers making a presentation of a carved rocking chair and a huge birthday cake. Mrs. Walker has lived sixty years in the district, having been born ninety years ago in Waiuku. Many years ago she walked from Waiuku to the present Civic Square in Auckland, which was the site of- the hospital in those days, to see her husband. Mr. Potter, one of the leading settlers of the district, was called on to make the presentations, etc. Mrs. Walker was accompanied by her "young" brother of 76, whoiM birthday was to-day. Musical and dancing were indulged in un il an early hour of the morning.
