STEEPLES DAY AT CAULFIELD. SIR ALOGY LIFTS THE DOUBLE. MELBOURNE, August 12. The Victoria Amateur Turf Club's meeting concluded at Caulfleld yesterday in fine weather. _ The following was the result of the leading event:— THE AUSTRALIAN STEEPLECHASE, of 2100sovs. About three miles and a-half. Eleven started, Sir Alogy, who led from the start, won by two and a-half lengths, with five lengths between second and third. Time, 0.59} (equals the course record). It was Sir Alogy's first start over country, and he received a great ovation, as he ig the fourth horse to win the double —Hurdles and. Steeplechase. He was ridden each time by K. Scott.
