PRISONER FOR SENTENCE

Summers Heruika Edwards '36) a onearmed quarter-caste Maori, who received a sentence of two years' imprisonment at the Supreme Court last week for breaking and entering, appeared for sentence at the Supreme Court this morning on six charges of receiving stolen goods and two charges of theft.
Mr. W. Schramm, who represented Edwards, said that accused had pleaded guilty at the Supreme Court thereby saving the Crown much trouble and expensed After returning from the war, Edwards was involved in a serious accident. his head being crushed, while he also lost an arm. Prior to that lie had enjoyed an excellent character. Counsel that any sentence imposed would be made to run concurrently with his present sentence.
Detective Sergeant Kelly said that accused had stolon the communion money from St. Luke's Anglican Church, while from another church he stole a ping-pong set. Edwards was convicted on all charges and sentenced to three months' imprisonment, to be concurrent with the term he is now serving.
