NORTH SHORE WATER.
The Northeate Borough Council last evening referred communications relating to the proposed water supply legislation promoted by the Auckland City Council to its Finance Committee for report. The Takapuna Council advised that it opposed the enactment of the Auckland Water Supply Act, 1928, so far as the provisions relating to Takapuna were concerned. In reply fo a recent resolution of the Northcote Council, that no further expenditure be incurred in respect to the Waitakere scheme, the opinion was forwarded by the Takapuna Borough Cc/uncil that the information and Jata supplied by the Water Board's engineer showed definitely that the supply from Lake Pupuke was insufficient permanently to meet requirements 011 the present demand, and that the deficiency would become more pronounced with the natural increase in demand from the present areas of consumption and the developing areas to the northward of Takapuna. In consequence of the foregoing, and quite apart from any local consideration, the council was of opinion that it was the duty of the North Shore Water Board to put in hand With all expedition a major scheme of -upply. either independently or in conjunction with the Auckland City Council, or some other body. The communication was received.
