RIFLES AND BATONS.
v. BRICKBATS AND BOBBINS. CALCUTTA, July 20, A riot, occurred at the Fort Gloucester jute mills in the Howrah (Bengal) area, owing to the dismissal of four men. On the situation getting out of hand the police fired. 23 mills hands being injured, two seriously. A dozen police were also injured bv brickbats, bobbins and shuttles. 'This mill is near the Ludiow jute mill where there were recently several strikes.
