OHAKUNE
At the Magistrate's Court held in Ohakune on Tuesday, J. H. Murdie, a carrier was charged with carrying passengers when licensed to carry goods only. The offence was admitted but defendant pleaded that he had never charged any fare. The magistrate ruled that no matter whether a charge was made or not It was a matter of public safety, and taxis were available. ▲ conviction and fine were imposed. For stealing fruit of the value of 2,V from a Chinaman's premises M. Sherrin and I. Davis received one and two years' probation respectively.
