ELECTRIC LOAD SURVEY. RAUPO DRAINAGE BOARD. (I'..v Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, this day. The newly-appointed engineer to the Hobson Electric Power Board, Mr. T. R. Overton, who is taking a local load survey of the board's district, stated yesterday that the possibilities of hydroelectricity throughout the district were excellent, it only needed a little more optimism than had hitherto been displayed by the settlers and the supply of power would be an accomplished fact. At the monthly meeting of the Raupo Drainage Board yesterday it was decided that the present engineer, Mr. G. T. Stewart, hand over his work to the Otamatea County engineering staff by the end of the month, and that the county engineering staff take complete control of the drainage works as from August 1. The recently-appointed assistant county engineer, Mr. H. Hurray Reid, was present at the meeting. Considerable interest is being taken in a meeting of ratepayers that is to be held at Ruawai to-morrow night to discuss the appointment of an engineer and other concerns of the Raupo Drainage Board. At a meeting of ratepayers some weeks ago stronjr exception was taken to the proposal that the Otamatea County Council should take over the engineering work of tlie board, and this matter will be further ventilated at to-morrow's meeting.
