FEILDING GRIEVANCE

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON N., Tuesday. The Limited express is the best-pay-ing train in the railway service to-day. declared Mr. H. H. Sterling, general manager of railways when addressing a meeting at Feilding. Ihe popularity of the train wa» such that the seating accommodation was always overtaxed. There was nearly always a waiting of passengers. Mr. Sterling said It was not practicable to stop the Limited expresses at Feilding. As a matter of fact, it was the firm intention of the Department, as a number of improvements to tinpresent railroad system and rolling stock were completed, to still further limit the stopping places of the express. The De partment had in view plan.- to meet demands for several of the larger stations along the Main Trunk line, by which the public could avail itself of the services of the expresses without the Department losing revenue to motor vehicles. Asked if it was fair that the people of Marton should enjoy the privilege of having the Limited stop there, while Feilding people could not. Mr. Sterling -aid the fact which the Feilding people lost sight of wa sthat the stop at Marton was not in the interests of Marton ut of Wanganui. the fifth city in the 1 Dominion.
