SECURITY.

INSURANCE IN THE HOME EXTENDED BENEFITS UNDER "STAR" SCHEME. FOR HUSBAHDS, WIVES AND CHILDREN. Under the provisions of the "Mar's" free insurance scheme for 1925-9, generous security is provided against accidents in the home. Every reader who takes the slight trouble of filling in and posting the form which will be found on another page of this issue is assured of financial protection in the event of the death of the breadwinner by fire, at home or at work (for which a payment of £250 is provided 1, and also of compensation for certain accidents involving fractured limbs, broken collarbones, and broken jaw-bones. Another new clause, of particular interest to road-users, is framed to cover accidents to cyclists and motor-cyclists, a payment of £150 being available" in the event of a fatal accident, and £10 for a fractured limb. Yet another new provision ensures payment of £5 in the case of specified injury to the child of a registered reader. These are ail in addition to the benefits already assured: £1000 for fatal accident in train, steamer or passenger lift, £250 for tram, Tjus, or ferry fatality, £150 for boating, bathing, or sporting fatality, or for the loss of two limbs or total blindness, £50 for the loss of one leg or arm. or the sight of one eye.

Husband and wife are equally and folly insured if one is a registered reader. There is no need to register, for both can claim benefits under the terms of the scheme.

A year has elapsed since the "Star's" free insurance scheme first came into operation, and a sum of £1200 has already been paid out. The victim of almost every fatal accident in the province came within its scope as a registered reader—eloquent proof, if any were needed, of the '"Star's" circulation and of the value of registration. With the greatly extended scheme of benefits, a free "Star" policy will doubtless prove of even greater value than heretofore.
