STAYED TOO LONG.

HINDU TO BE DEPORTED. LIGHT FIXE IMPOSED. Ratangi Bhaga, a young native of India, when charged with staying in the Dominion beyond the period allowed in his temporary permit, admitted the offence at the Police Court this morning. The Collector of Customs, who prosecuted, said that Bhaga had remained here four months too long. Indians were bound by the restrictions of the Immigration Act. althougH British subjects. Mr. S. Schneideman, for accused, said that Bhaga had been waiting for funds to arrive from India so that he could leave. His countrymen here were now assisting him to leave. Counsel suggested that as this was the first time an Indian had been charged with such an offence a light fine would meet the case. Bhaga was fined £2 and ordered to be deported.
