AFTERMATH OF COLLISION. CYCLIST GETS £214 DAMAGES FROM DRIVER. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TAUMARUNUI, Friday. On Boxing Day, 1927, D. R. Gruebuer had a leg broken in a collision between a motor cycle he was riding and a car driven by H. Simpson, the accident happening at the intersection of Manuaute and Main Streets, Taumarunui. In an action to-day Gruebuer obtained £170 general damages from Simpson, besides £44 1/6 special damages and costs, the magistrate being of opinion that defendant, although driving slowly, was not keeping a proper lookout. Simpson was subsequently charged with negligent driving. He was convicted and fined £4 and costs. Security for appeal was fixed at the amount of the judgment, plus £10.
