RAUPO-TIKDTDT FERRY.

SUBBIDY GRANTED.

Mr. Linton Hamee, manager of the Ruawai dairy factory, attended a meeting of t)he County Council as a deputation, asking for a subsidy on the running of the launch on the Raupo-Tikinui Ferry. The Council agreed to a subsidy not to exceed £50 for the first year. The engineer* of Hobeon and Otamatea counties will control the ferry, and the request for a subsidy is being made to both Councils.

The tender by John Burns and Coy. of £450 12/4 for replacement of girders for a number of county bridges, was accepted. Maintenance of the road between Huarau and Maungatwoto railway stations is to be provided for by an allowance from Paparoa and Wairau riding funds. The clearing of overgrown portions of the Oneriri Road, Kaiwaka, Hiding, to give access for stock-driving, was authorised. The matter of the electric lighting of the Ruawai wharf was left with the county chairman and Mr. Hunt to arrange. ( The Hobson Electric Power Board advised that Mr. T. R. Overton had been appointed consulting engineer to take a load survey, in connection with the re-valuation of Ruawai and Matakohe Ridings. It was decided to undertake the engineering work for the Kaupo Drainage Board for 12 months for £100. It was stated that the revaluation of the Ruawai and Matakohe Ridings had been completed and the new rolls would l>o open for inspection to July 27.
