WELLINGTON, this day,
.Ng Soong, a young Chinese, was to-day sentenced by Mr. Justice Reed, in the Supreme Court, to five years' imprisonment for an indccent assault oil a female.
His Honor agreed with prisoner's counsel that it was quite exceptional to see one of the prisoner's race committing a crime on a child of tender years. The case was a had one, and would have to be marked by a severe penalty.
