WAIKATO HOSPITAL

SUPERINTENDENT RESIGNS.

ENTERING PRIVATE PRACTICE,

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

HAMILTON, this (lay.

After having occupied the position of •urgeon-superintendent of the Waikato Hospital for nine years, Dr. G. W. Gower to-day tendered his resignation to the board. He intends to enter private practice.

The resignation was accepted with regret, and the board recorded its high appreciation of Dr. Gower's efficient and valuable service.

The system of medical administration was discussed in committee. Members were unanimously of the opinion that the stipendiary system, with a fullypaid staff, had worked splendidly, and the voluntary system should not be entertained. It was decided to refer the question of calling for applications for the position of medical or surgical superintendent to the House and Finance Committee.
