NORTHERN CHALLENGE CUP

OTAGO TEAM'S TOUR
Members of the management committee of the Auckland Rugby League met -last evening, Mr. G. Rhodes presiding. Lengthy discussion took place as a result of a request by the New Zealand Council for the names of three referees for appointment to the English matches. Mr. W. Mincham claimed that courtesy demanded that the letter be forwarded to the Referees' Association for consideration. It was eventually decided that the request be sent on to the Referees' Association. The Otago League advised that under their revised itinerary, their .touring team would play at Wellington on September 12, at Auckland on September 15, and against South Auckland on September 19. It was decided to play a representative, game against South Auckland on Wednesday. July 25. Tlie League asked for detailed •'•••• "a:: >n concerning the free list at the Auckland match. The letter was left in the hands of the secretary to answer.
On the request of the Onehunga Borough Council, it was decided to send a deputation to the council next Monday to discuss the allocation of grounds on the Onehunga recreation reserve.
The New Zealand League advised that Auckland would 'be called upon to defend the Northern Union Challenge Cup against Canterbury on July 21, and against Otago on September 15, both games to i>r played at Auckland. Wellington's claim for a game was deferred until later in the season. The Anckand Football Association advised that no matches would be played on the occasion of the League Test match between England and New Zealand. The transfer of G. Firth from New Lynn to Richmond seniors was approved.
