WEDDING TRAGEDY.
BRIDE'S FATHER KILLED.
MOTOR OAR CAPSIZED. WOMEN PASSENGERS INJURED, i _____ OTHERS BADLY BRUISED. (By T»'er."aph.—Press Association.) PAHIATUA, this day. Donald Urquhart Gunn, an elderly man, attended the wedding of his daughter, Jessie, to Mr. Jack Ellmers, at Kohimui, last night. Not long afterwards he was killed.
After a reception, held at the Mangatainoka Hall, the bridal party motored to Woodville to catch a train, and Mr. Gunn followed in another car, driven by his son-in-law, Mr. George Henry Withers, a surfaceman residing at Featherston. Also in the car were Mrs. Withers and a child, Mrs Ross and Miss Ross, of Masterton, and Mrs. Rundle, of Nireaha. Mr. Gunn was in the back •eat.
When the car wai going down a slope between Mangatainoka and Ngawapurua the rear right-hand rim and tyre came off, causing the wheel to skid in the loose metal. It then collapsed, and turned a complete somersault.
All the passengers were thrown out, except Mrs. Boss. Mr. Gunn was so badly injured that he died in the public hospital shortly after his admission.
Mrs. Withers and Mrs. Ross also wore taken to hospital with various injuries, •nd the othera were badly bruised.
