CALCUTTA, July 9.
The most serious accident of recent years on the East India railways occurred last night eight miles outside of Howrah. Already there are thirteen dead and 32 injured.
The cause of the accident was the derailment of an engine near a culvert, resulting in the front brakevan and two passenger carriages being telescoped.
The locality is within the strike area nnd the theory that it is the work of strikers is being examined.
At a meeting of Lilloah strikers today, Mitra, a.strike leader, advised the unconditional resumption of woik, saying: "We have no funds. Return to work to prepare for a bigger fight." The men have been drifting back for some time.

CASUALTIES NOW 18
(United Service.) (Received 12.30 p.m.) DELHI, July 9. In the train smash, sabotage has been definitely proved as 120 to 130 feet of rails was removed. The revised casualties number 18 dead and 32 injured. All are Indians.
