SUNK AT RECLAMATION,
The old wooden steamer, Chelmsford, for oaity years a unit of the Northern Company's fleet, was gunk yesterday ri ti# reclamation near the western tide dlfleetor, where she will keep company tbe Kanieri, another old-timer, which her day rendered good service in the MM company's fleet. The Chelmsford, 122 tons register, was boiK in Australia in 1886, and was later purchased by the Northern Company- She was familiar on the northern coast, her light draught enabling her to visit many of the bays where larger itcamera <jould not go. Onoe the Chelmsford got on the beach at WhanaMki, but she was refloated without lerloue damage. Three years ago the Chelmsford was consigned to Rotten Row in the harbour'to swing idly at anchor amid a gathering of other old-timers. In the rieent gale she sank. She was raised, (tripped, and then it was decided to end her career. When the reclamation is flalihed the remains of the Chelmsford and her fleet companion will be welMow the permanent surface.
